This handmade accordion book is roughly 5 x 30 inches. The book contains collaged elements, drawings, and writing that chronicles a miscarriage and medical abortion that I experienced in 2014. It took me eight years to find the medium to express this experience.
The small clay figure was made in 2014 in the aftermath of my experience. I felt so violated by the constant, invasive physical examinations that I imagined my reproductive organs being replaced by a donut. Can you imagine the look on the doctor’s face upon discovering a donut instead of a vagina?
